Tips for making the perfect coffee scrub
First, start with a good quality coffee. Did you know that 70% of all coffee is contaminated with mold and other toxins? This can cause unwanted symptoms such as brain fog, stomach upset, and more serious health conditions. Look for a coffee that is clean and/or tested for toxins such as mold, pesticides, and other toxins. If you're not sure where to find a clean coffee, click on the link below in the ingredient list.
Second, use organic products when possible. I used organic cane sugar in this recipe. Organic means the food is grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides making it safer to use on the skin.
Third, use grass-fed tallow in your home made skincare recipes. Grass-fed tallow contains higher amount of nutrients for healthy skin.
DIY Coffee Scrub Recipe
With only 3 simple ingredients that most people have in their home, this recipe is super easy to make. The only equipment you need is a bowl and spoon.
You can make this recipe in 5 minutes or less and it can be used immediately.
Your first step should focus on prep. E.g., Preheat to 375°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
All middle steps should describe what the reader should do in a certain order. E.g., In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugars and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Then add your eggs to the mix one at a time.
End with the final baking or cooking time. Describe what the final product should look like and when it should be served. E.g., Bake until the cookies have golden edges. Remove the cookies from the oven and set them in a baking rack for 10 minutes. Voila! Your cookies are ready. Serve them right after or store them in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
How to use Coffee Scrub
Apply the coffee scrub to damp clean skin using gentle circular motions for about 30 seconds and then rinse. The coffee scrub can be used on the face or body. It leaves skin feeling smooth and moisturized. Be sure to have a towel handy because some of the coffee may fall off as you are using it. Also be careful when using it in the shower because the floor might become slippery.
This recipe was formulated to make a small amount. Store any extra scrub in the refrigerator to prevent antimicrobial growth. Let it sit out on the counter for 10 minutes or so when you want to use it the next time and give it a stir.
